With the travel season happening right now I get this question alot especially those who are going to a warm destination.
When it comes to products to care for and make your tan last longer its best to read ingredients first. When using a body wash make sure its SLS's free, most body washes that are highly commercialized will have SLS's in them. Its a cheap detergent and it can strip or make a sunless tan appear streaky NOT good. Use the best quality you can afford, I usually recommend either one that I carry or a more natural one from the health food section in your grocery store or drug store. When it comes to lotions same thing applies...go for the best you can afford and stay away from Petrochemicals; mineral oil and petroleum which can break down a sunless tan faster. Also remember your skin absorbes at least 60% of what you put on it!! Take care of you skin and choose "Green" products you biggest organ will thank you! (smile!) I always have specific lotions and body washes and tan extenders to care for your tan when I arrive for your appointment so feel free to ask. Remember to get best and longest lasting results...EXFOLIATE well before your apptointment and keep your skin well HYDRATED with lotion at least once a day. Cheers Lovelies!

Awww spring is finally close enough to touch and I'm so very happy about that! I love to see the spring flowers and warmer temps coming back slowly and people are starting to uncover a little now.
As every spring I like to post a reminder of spring tips to get the most out of your sunless tan. For the most part we have been covered up thru another Seattle winter. Now its time to start up with our beauty routine for the upcoming summer season. One very important habit to get into is exfoliating and make it a habit...period. Its the only beauty secret that is practically free... ok so a puff is a couple bucks. BUT the rewards are glowing skin that is softer and less dull and flaky...so much prettier than flakes. Yikes! When prepping for your tan make sure to do it as much as you can before your session as possible, gently but thoroughly. Use a good quality hydrating lotion everynight up till your appt. Remember to use oil based exfoliants 48hr or more ahead of time to make sure the residue is off your skin. Get those mani/Pedi's day before and waxing 2days before your session as well. When doing sugaring you have no worries I can actually tan you right after with ease. Keep the day of your session simple..nothing on your skin. Please do not exfoliate right before your appt. as opening up pores right before is not the best idea. One more little tip...Stop spraying perfume directly on your chest, it leads to splotchy skin and so not attractive. (Wink!) Cheers Lovelies and Looking forward to bringing your glow to your front door! When you have a session with me I always give you tips on how to make your glow last and fade just like a real tan. I decided to give a little low down here on my blog for those of you who may not be able to have a session with me.
~First I always tell my clients to use high quality products to exfoliate and hydrate their skin. Cheap products have junk them; yes I'm a product snob! (wink) ~Exfoliate on a regular basis, not just once right before your tan. ~You can make your own simple scrub; granulated sugar and a Rami mitt or washcloth. ~Hydrate your skin from the inside out; Drink lots of water and use a great lotion. ~Do not spray perfume on your chest, spray it on your clothes. Your tan can get splotchy here due to the build up of perfume it permeates the skin w/repeated use. ~Stay away from really hot showers and NO baths till you want to remove the tan. When your ready to do that take a HOT batch with some baby oil and baking soda and soak for 10min then stand up and scrub. ~If you skip days of putting lotion on your skin then it will fade quicker and can get splotchy...A real tan does the same thing. Its your natural cells shedding, they don't shed evenly. ~The more you do sunless the better it keeps taking, Even my clients who do it only once a month find that it looks so natural. ~Before working out put a little cornstarch based powder on the shoulders, between breasts, under underarms. Then when done make sure to rinse off the sweat don't let it sit on your skin to dry, sweat has all those toxins that you just got out of your body...so rinse! Hope this helps you get good sunless even if I can't be the one giving it to you! Cheers! Sorry seen to many episodes of Blue's clues BUT gave me an interesting thought today...Scrubbing, Exfoliating what ever you call it as Martha Stewart would say "its a good thing"!!!! |
